Thaniyam Grama Panchayat is located in the Anthikad Block of Thrissur Taluk in Thrissur district. Spread across the villages of Kizhakkummuri, Vadakkummuri, Kizhupillikkara, and Thaniyam, the panchayat has an area of 18.15 square kilometers. Thaniyam Panchayat consists of 18 wards. Its boundaries are Anthikad Panchayat to the north, Chazhoor Panchayat to the east, and the Canoli Canal to the south and west.Thaniyam is a village situated along the banks of the Triprayar River. The Manali and Kurumali rivers merge at Adilakuzhi to form the Karuvannur River, which flows through Vadakkummuri village of Thaniyam Panchayat and along the eastern border touching Kizhupillikkara village. Flowing southward through Edathiruthy and Kattur panchayats, the river becomes famous as the Triprayar River.
